1) Reminder: Original Art Sale is LIVE
\nFrom the Bureau of Commerce's Online Sales Unit
\nI don't do original art sale's often, and when these pieces are gone, they're gone. In case you missed my link earlier this week, you can get in over here and order a piece now.

\n2) Cool Box Airplane Concept
\nFrom the Concept Art Division
\n
\n
\n
\nThis \"Box flying machine\" by Japanese artist Ono Gatring is pretty clever. I love outside (or inside?) the box engineering ideas. Ono has a ton of cool ideas you can see on their Pixiv page.

\n3) Sweet ride
\nFrom the Office of Wheels
\nThis is a cool concept from the 70s for a Polish vehicle that would be used in deep snowy conditions to check power lines. Based on a Fiat 126, it unfortunately didn't see production and all we are left with is this prototype. But I do love it so much.
\nWikipedia page: LINK
\n4) Designy Dinosaurs
\nFrom the Illustrators Division
\n
\n
\nLondon based illustrator James Gilleard did NOT need to go this hard for this project. It was just supposed to be a simple dinosaur book for kids, but Gilleard designed the heck out of it.
\nThe book, Dinosaur Atlas by Lonely Planet Kids, is a dinosaur fact book filled with everything you'd expect, EXCEPT the illustrations are masterful, beautiful, and chic. You can see more here on this Behance page: LINK
\nGilleard is definitely channeling some Charley Harper in his work, which is great. i like where he's taking it.
\nGilleard's Portfoilo: LINK
\nI really love this one. might have to get a print of it somehow.
\n5) On Trying Hard Things
\nFrom the Inspirational Thought Unit
\nMy son painted this for me.
\n\nI’ve kept it on my desk ever since he made it.
\nBut I don't keep it as a reminder to push myself out of my comfort zone. No, I keep it here because it cracks me up.
\nMy son is 20 now, and he made this last year.
\nWe were doing a family activity where we were all painting rocks and putting little inspirational messages on them. We then hid them around the neighborhood for people to see on their walks, and hopefully make their day brighter.
\nMy son, Tate was soooo not into it. He had about 12 other things he wanted to do, but it was lockdown days and we were doing A LOT of stuff as a family.
\nHe just sort of half-assed the inspirational message and threw a wonky Mike Wazowski on there and I just died laughing when I saw it because it looks like a little kid did it and the message is so ironic. He checked the box and went off to go play his Kung Fu Mario game or something.
\nI don't know what the point of this is, other than I'm giggling while I type this, and had to share it.
\nThat's all for this week. Thank you for reading this newsletter and hope you have a great weekend!
\n-Jake

Hello!
I went on a short trip this week with my wife, just the two of us, no kids! It was a much needed break, but now we are back and gliding into the weekend picking up the pieces of the week we left.
I hope you're doing good. Here's 5 things I thought you'd appreciate this weekend.
Enjoy!
